Muri’s music continues to transcend borders through her collaboration with Shigge

The world looks better during golden hour—that brief period after sunrise and before sunset, when everything seems to emit a soft glow under the soft natural light and the day is still ripe with possibilities.
Reflective of that magical time of the day is the aptly titled “Golden Hour,” a soul-meets-electronica track. Created by Filipino singer/ songwriter (and CREATEPhilippines’ featured creative in March ) Muri, in collaboration with Tokyo-based beat-maker Shigge, the song drops on July 11, the result of the artists’ creative partnership that began in September 2024 when they met and connected at the AXEAN Showcase Festival in Bali, Indonesia. It is also one of the four cuts featured in the extended play (EP) Setsuna, set for global release on August 8.
In a press statement, Muri described Shigge’s music as “really unique and forward-thinking. When we got the chance to work with each other at the [AXEAN Showcase Festival] songwriting camp, I felt we could make a really cool world [by] fusing our styles together.”
“Golden Hour” is certainly proof of that, melding Muri’s soulful, dulcet voice with Shigge’s unique production style that has made him a central figure in Japan’s new wave of lo-fi, electronic house, and genre-bending beat music. The track starts out chill, if slightly somber, with birdsong and the sound of crashing waves deftly layered over warm, dreamy synths. Then, the beat drops and the song becomes brighter and faster-paced. “It’s the kind of song that lives in transition: when you pack your bags, turn out the lights, and take one last deep breath on a rooftop,” the song notes read. “It’s for when the house DJ begins to play, and you feel the weight of the day dissolving—regrets, triumphs, joys, and frustrations all swirling into the sunset.”
The theme of transition promises to continue for the rest of Setsuna, an EP that “explores the quiet, often invisible turning points that shape us,” according to the press statement. “It lives in the space between major life events—the seemingly insignificant flashes of thought, feeling, or memory that, when taken together, create transformation.” Each track is mastered in Dolby, so listeners will feel fully immersed in the music.
In support of the release of “Golden Hour” and Setsuna, the two artists will go on a cross-border tour.
