These 5 hip hop acts that prove that the Pinoy dancer has swag like no other

From ‘90s dance group Streetboys captivating audiences of the musical Miss Saigon to the Jabbawockeez winning contests and earning the love of the internet in the late aughts, Pinoy hip hop/street acts have been excelling globally for decades now.

This pattern of excellence continues today, with the emergence of more dance groups succeeding in international platforms in recent years. Here are some of the finest all-Filipino dance groups of late, proving to the world stage that the Pinoy dancer has swag like no other.

FMD Extreme

FMD Xtreme, an 11-member dance crew, made a name for themselves after winning the 2012 Dance2Dance competition in Switzerland. The group is a three-time Open Division Champion at the World Supremacy Battlegrounds Open Division in 2013, 2014, and 2016. Recently, they bagged second place as the Most Entertaining Crew at the Australian Dance Crew Championship.

Kenyo Street Fam

Kenyo Street Fam is an emerging dance group from Bulacan that is making waves through their local and international acts. They are the back-to-back champions of the World Supremacy Battlegrounds International 2018 and 2019 in Australia. They also bagged the first Grand Dancing Champion title of ABS-CBN's performance show "Your Moment" in 2020.

UPeepz

UPeepz is an internationally renowned crew known for their thematic and slick choreography that represents Filipino culture and identity. Founded in 2011 in the University of the Philippines, this group became the first Filipino team to be two-time world champions from 2016 to 2017 in the MegaCrew division of the World Hip Hop Dance Championship. They were also a semi-finalist in the World of Dance competition.

Another world-renowned hip-hop powerhouse that needs no introduction is the Philippine Allstars. Formed in 2005 with a mission to elevate the country on the global stage, this illustrious team has delivered different jaw-dropping performances and dominated hip-hop competitions abroad, including in the United States, Italy, and Switzerland. As one of the trailblazers of Philippine b-boy scene, the Allstars has often been compared with other legendary groups such as Jabbawockeez and Super Cr3w.

Andree Camille “AC” Bonifacio is an internationally known artist, actress, dancer and Influencer with over 4 million followers on Facebook and Instagram. She hit it off after performing a dance off in the hit drama series ‘Riverdale’ as ‘Star Vixen.’ Prior to this, Bonifacio was already making a name for herself after becoming the first-ever grand champion of Filipino TV competition ‘Dance Kids.’ She also had the opportunity to perform on the Ellen Degeneres show, as well as with international pop star Ariana Grande.
